Why the country of your gift card matters

Most gift cards are locked to the country of the store they were bought for. A US Apple card will not work on a UK account, and the same goes for PlayStation, Xbox, Steam and Google Play.

How to find the country

• Look at the currency printed on the card: $ usually means US, £ means UK, € means a eurozone country
• Check the store the digital code came from (amazon.com is US, amazon.co.uk is UK)
• The back of the card often names the country: "Valid only in the U.S."

Why it changes the price

Each country has its own demand, so the rate can be different. On every card page you can see the rate for each country before you choose.

What happens if you choose the wrong country

The code will not work where we try it, so the order is rejected as "wrong country". Sell it again with the right country and it goes through normally.
